Tuesday, November 7 10 AM to 3 PM at Flathead Valley Community College, Kalispell, MT Event Goal: To improve the health and well-being of city and county residents by offering relevant education and provide a networking opportunity to foster connections that will increase community knowledge, relationships and referrals. Who should attend? Health care professionals (inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, behavioral health and more) Community-based organizations focused on health and well-being in the Kalispell area and across Flathead County Health care and/or health promotion vendors and other stakeholders Education topics will include:
  • Suicide prevention
  • Naloxone training
  • Improving chronic disease outcomes
  • through team-based approaches
  • Montana CONNECT system
  • Unwinding Medicaid
Lunch will be provided. No fee to attend, but Registration is required

The Smile of Hope Dental Program provides grants of up to $2,000 to qualifying women who have no access to dental care. “Our goal is to improve these women’s lives and livelihood by providing this opportunity to improve their dental health and self-esteem,” said Joanie Sorensen, Soroptimist of Whitefish Smile of Hope committee founding member in a 2017 interview. “The committee works with Dental Partners to provide necessary care within the limits of each grant”, Sorensen said. In addition to a cleaning, X-ray and plan for restoration and care, each recipient will receive a Sonicare toothbrush and education for dental care. Dental Partners also provide a six-month follow-up examination. Applications are accepted year around. No Fee To Apply. Eligibility:
  • Female - 18 years or older
  • Demonstrate Financial Need
  • Employed, seeking employment or disabled
  • Dental care needed to improve health, smile and self-esteem
  • Nonsmoker or actively committed to quitting
Application forms are available at the Soroptimist Thrift Haus, 303 First St. in Whitefish, Shepherd’s Hand Clinic (which meets Monday evenings at Christ Lutheran Church), and participating Dental Partners. Applications will be evaluated based upon a written (200 word) personal essay, job verification, financial statement and 2 references.
